Venezuela rearming for war with Columbia?

Venezuela has recently acquired thousands of new missiles, Russian made, presumably for an attack on Columbia. According to the Washington Post, these are being accompanied by increasing rhetoric from Hugo Chavez about how the Columbian imperialists are preparing for aggressive war, etcetera. Somewhat typical of a left-wing dictator, perhaps, but a two pronged assault by the Venezuelan-financed FARC and the Venezuelan military could have a fallen Columbia if the West does nothing to intervene on Columbia’s side. My personal opinion is that this is probably a bluff to wring some concessions of one sort or another out of the Columbians, or to distract Columbian troops from the FARC conflict. The problem, of course, is if the bluff is called it may well get out of hand.
