Anti-Semites Get Jewish Film Showing Canceled
According to this article in the Jerusalem Post, a few far-left radicals probably affiliated with Germany’s Die Linke – the successor party to the SED and the most extreme party with representation in the Bundestag, mostly from the eastern states – managed to get a screening of a Jewish film canceled in the city of Hamburg. They did so through threats of violence against the cinema in question, which is unfortunately somewhat typical of the extremist left in Germany.
From what I’m hearing, this isn’t too dissimilar to the boycott of Israeli films at the Toronto International Film Festival by Canadian left-wingers (minus the threats of violence, but with precisely the same level of hypocrisy) who happen to include Naomi Klein (see the right toolbar on the main page for a response to her role in the boycott).
I have to shake my head at how the supposedly “tolerant” left suddenly seems more and more like the neo-Nazi parties such as the NPD on issues of anti-Semitism. I suppose they’re only tolerant to specific minorities, ones that they like. Much like Nazis. What a coincidence. The sad part is that the German media didn’t even pick up on this. News to them – anti-Semitism is just as evil coming from the left as it is coming from the far-right.
Stand firm with Israel and Jews against anti-Semitism. With both sides turning against them, they need all the support from us that they can get. I encourage all readers to join the BUYcott movement, supporting Israel through the purchase of Israeli products, something that can make a real difference beyond simple words.
